Re: the mosque near the site of the Twin Towers: freedom of religion is one of the most precious of America's founding tenets. Vast swathes of the country was originally populated by religious weirdos - that's "weirdos" in the neutral sense of nonconformity - and America should never renege on this principle. Nobody thinks that abortion bombers represent all of Christendom, and nobody should think that terrorists who invoke the name of Allah have anything to do with the vast majority of ordinary, loving, peaceful, normal Muslims.

Hey Lisa. I took the video down. Something about fit. I bet you are feeling great after seeing your family in the East and the Midwest. Good luck with the new school year.

As for the mosque, my first thought was, this is not a good idea; a good idea is one that everyone agrees on. But I support the President's decision to back it. The man knows far more about Muslim matters than we'll ever know. That whole side of the city is practically a ghost town now, and a community center will help to reinvigorate the area.

Hi Brenda, I actually was coming to comment on your The Fun Theory video, which was in my reader, but seems to have been removed here now. I loved that video!! Had also thought you might have written something on the NYC mosque controversy, but I guess you are steering away from political topics just now...will catch up soon, just back from vaca...

Kaushik, I post things like this so there is a record somewhere of my children's achievements. If I don't write them down, they get lost in memory. My children are my greatest joy. I appreciate your interest.

Lovely to watch. These days I don't mind doing things alone at all, and if I'm with groups of people for an extended time, I seek solitude.

Thanks Lisa. I'm experimenting with fluid versus fixed thought here. Why not? These psyphilings are fun to write.

Brenda, these 'psyphilings' are amazing. They seem to bring out another side of your and your writing. I love all you had to say here, and the comment on the Transcendentalists vs. the Romantics. I had never thought about the history of american thought in that way...yes, what if??
