Awakening
“Awakening is doing away with all that is false in us. Releasing and awareness both lead to this quiet, innocent, imperturbable awareness—it is love, the love of life.” — Kaushik Chokshi

Is there a difference between love of life and love of God?
Today the human species is causing mass extinction of other species and impacting the environment in ways that could prove fatal to us.
The bible presents a God who cares passionately for creation - to the point, in Christianity, of being willing to suffer and die for others.
It seems to me that too much of religion has been about worshipping love instead of acting on love. It’s hard for me to imagine a God more interested in having a large fan base than in having people follow the Godly example…
Kind of a long way of saying I agree with Kaushik…!

Hi Paul
If we love life enough, we probably will act in a godly manner. I have a son who claims to be atheist, yet he is one of the most godly people I have ever known. There may be a difference in loving life and loving God for people like my son, but I think it’s only a language difference. God is, after all, a simpler version of the word “good,” so where there is goodness there is God.
Last night I was looking at some Twitter stats that showed Rick Warren with 58,000 followers and Tiny Buddha with 48,000. You can interpret that however you choose, but I’m thinking ten years ago you would not have seen that. The times they are a changing.
I hope you are doing well. I’m looking forward to Lisa’s review of your book.

Brenda,
I am honored!
I like Paul’s insight about loving God and yours that God is love. You mentioned Rumi, and Rumi said of love and of God: it is as the Sun loves the Earth.
Thanks!

K, I am such a fan. You have helped me in many ways to see past what is false and to love life even more. I’ve often wondered how you chose Beyond Karma as a site name. I think you could just as easily have named it Beyond Thought, or Opinion, or Attachment, or Fear, or Belief, or any of a number of other limiting concepts. I am honored to call you my friend.
