My intention for the new year is to take on a boarder or two, Andy for starts. Andy is my son’s good friend and a former tenant here. I practically raised Andy in this house.

Brian and his crew helped me get the apartment in the back ready for Andy. Here’s a shot of the fancy new tile work in the bathroom. Brian did a really nice job. It looks so pretty.

Brian is the excellent carpenter who has been helping me for about six months. He lives with and cares for his 90-year-old grandmother. A caregiver stays with her during the day. Brian stays with her at night and on weekends.

He has expressed an interest in my vacant bedroom in the event something were to happen to granny. We’ll see.

I woke up in my granddaughter’s bedroom today. She was sitting in her crib facing the wall clapping her hands. That’s how I started the first day of the new year, with applause from my grandchild!

Here’s a picture of Brooke. In three weeks she will be nine months.

She loves baths.

I love being her grandmother.

After forty years of it, I quit smoking last month. It was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I had bronchitis for two and a half months, from Sept. 24th to Dec. 3rd. Constant coughing, three trips to the clinic for shots, my body screaming Fine, smoke if you want to but I’m going to cough every time you do. So I stopped smoking, stopped coughing, started gaining weight. Here’s a picture of me at around 130 before the cessation/holiday swell set in. Today I weigh 137.

If there’s a theme here, running through my life and my blog as every new year begins, it’s this — cats, kids, home, health, and friends. All my intentions relate to one of those.

For 2011 I expect to receive and experience the fantastic, the amazing, the god sent, the miraculous. I love it when those things happen.

I’m off work till January 29th and all is well. Apparently, the changes/intentions I am considering right now are in alignment with my highest path and purpose.

It’s going to be different with Andy and Brian here.
