About Me

007_7111.JPGMay 2006—

The word betaphi derives from the initial letters of my first four names (beta) and the first three letters of my last name (phi). Altogether it sounds rather smartypants and appropriate for someone with a graduate degree in English, don’t you think? I love language.

I also love stories, poems, faces, and places. This website is where I file my favorites for sharing and safekeeping. My son helped me set it up in about an hour. WordPress makes it easy for novices like me to have a website.

Blogs are one of the fastest-growing income generators on the worldwide web today. Advertisers buy space on blogs with lots of links and lots of visitors. I can’t imagine who would be interested in my musings other than friends and family, but I’m always open to a miracle. I could advertise self-help, inspirational, and spiritually oriented seminars and conferences in exchange for travel and admission. I created a page called Places with travel hopes in mind.

I’m also open to the possibility of doing online editing. I score SAT essays online nine months of the year and have plenty of extra time to help the writer in Rio de Janeiro, for example, who uses eight programming languages and four spoken languages but struggles with written English. Earning income on the internet is what I do already, and I’d like to do more.

Another possibility I’m open to is finding a male life partner who loves travel and computing. I see us seated in our separate rooms earning money typing. We communicate through our computers using voice-over IP. Occasionally, we pack up and head off together somewhere just to get out of our chairs.

Finally, I’d like to help people set up websites similar to mine for use as family histories. It used to cost thousands of dollars to publish books with family pictures, stories, recipes, poems, etc. Those volumes were subject to damage and loss. Storing everything you love on a website is safe, secure, accessible, and everlasting. A nominal start-up fee is all that’s required.

Mostly, I’m interested in fulfilling God’s plan for my life, assuming there is one. I believe in the possibility of anything, including a benevolent god who drops blessings willy-nilly when we least expect them. My favorite quote comes from scripture and it’s this.

“In the beginning was the word, and the word was God….”
